Blencatha Lodge - lovely experience
The only other gripe, I'd invest in making the hot tub area look a little more astethically pleasing, some new stone and nice lighting and it will be beautiful.
The site lovely and quiet, really recommend taking a good food shop as you're away from a main supermarket. The honestly box is cute.
Coniston Lake is stunning, the Copper Mines walk is an absolute must.
If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go.
Just seen the mouse review below imagine wildlife in nature and wanting a refund. Don't let this put you off.

Beautiful location but could be better.
Unfortunately, there are a few design decisions that have could have made a massive difference.
The decking is out of the sun for the major part of the day, yet, there was plenty of space to put a useable deck on the sunny side of the lodge.
The parking is at the bottom of a steep, badly maintained set of steps, yet there is clearly enough room adjacent to the lodge, blocked off by the neighbouring lodges at present, where we could have brought our car right up to the same level. This is clearly not the lodge owners fault as such, but could certainly have been arranged better by the overall company Hoseasons.
The kitchen design is so wasteful, with hardly any room to store your provisions. Just needs a pantry unit, to make the difference.
With a bathroom this size, who chooses such a stupidly small basin?
General maintenance issues.
Main entrance sliding door it almost breaks your fingers trying to lock it.
Wrong shaped seat pads for the outside chairs.
Draw cords missing on bedroom blinds.
Head rest missing on hot tub.
Despite this being a 4 person lodge, the cutlery is grossly insufficient.
These minor maintenance points, could have, and should have been attended to without guests having to write reviews, and would make a massive difference in my general perception of the lodge.
None of these things have spoiled our overall enjoyment, but just a little effort could have made such an improvement.
I don’t want to be unfair, as this is beautifully located in a lovely quiet part of the lakes, with fantastic views over Coniston, with just a short walk up the hill behind the site, or a short walk down to the lake shore.
As it is, I would still recommend a peaceful stay at this lodge, but bring a few of your own teaspoons.

Scarfell lodge
Firstly, there was a rodent deterrent inside the lodge which emitted a loud beep every seven seconds. It was noticeable throughout our stay and something you would need to get used to if staying here.
The sofa was very low to the ground and had a few holes, which appeared to have been caused by pets over time. There were also some cosmetic issues, such as chipped blinds and marks on the worktop. These didn’t affect our stay but did make the lodge feel a little worn.
The bed wasn’t particularly comfortable and could do with being replaced.
As expected, we brought our own food and there was a small welcome pack provided, which was appreciated. However, it could have been more comprehensive. A few extra essentials, such as a small bottle of olive oil for cooking and additional cleaning products, would have made the stay much more convenient, especially given that the lodge is around 20 minutes from the nearest shop.
During our stay there was a power cut, which was obviously outside the holiday park’s control. However, it would have been appreciated if the lodge owners had sent a quick text to let guests know, especially as they have our contact details. We returned from Windermere to find the lodge without power, with no prior warning.
On a positive note, the hot tub was excellent and was one of the highlights of our stay. My partner and I really enjoyed using it.
Overall, we had a lovely time, but that was mainly due to the beauty of the Lake District rather than the lodge itself. With a few improvements and a little more attention to guest comfort, the experience could be much better.
