We loved this place. Ideal location close to train and bus station. In view of park, and right at the top of the High Street. Good sized room and bathroom. Definitely recommend

Very disappointing after the family had bought a trip away for me and my husband as a present .
peeling wallpaper scruffy paintwork dirty rooms Having paid £490 for two nights it’s disgraceful to advertise as 3star hotel
Don’t know how anyone could inspect the hotel today and even give 1star plus the fact the bar had no selection for draft beers most were out of stock
I have taken pictures showing the grubby bathroom with rust and green mould on radiator cracked tiles on floor and also thick dust and dirt on door frame tops
I really think we should be entitled to some form of refund

When I first went into my door I could not close the door, eventually managing it by lifting the door by the handle. On checking, I found that several hinge screws were loose. I reported this to the receptionist, who later came up with a screwdriver. Between us we managed to tighten the hinge screws, but not those on the door latch, which had been fitted the wrong way around!
I could now drag the door shut, but it would not self-close - a breach of fire regulations!
The room, and indeed the whole hotel, was very old-fashioned.
The sink in the bedroom was chipped in a few places.
Wallpaper was hanging loose on the walls.
Paint was flaking off the window frame. The window catch was loose and I was unable to open the window.
When it rained, water poured down from the gutter above.
There were 3 fire notices on the door, which seemed to conflict with each other.
The hallways, which had no windows, had lighting controlled by movement sensors, some of which were reluctant to switch on and went off as soon as I stopped moving. There were steps and occasional slopes in the hallways, which had dark carpeting over creaky, wooden floors. With the lights often going off, this made walking somewhat hazardous!
On a positive note, I had a very pleasant continental breakfast.
The hotel has 5 floors, but only one lift, which had notices stating a maximum capacity of 2 people. This often caused queueing, especially when a coach party arrived.

Room spotless and staff so lovely but hotel in awful state. Carpet in bedroom literally threadbare. Tiles around bath almost falling off. Lift failed with us in it. Chain in administration so feel for staff but owners have clearly not invested for many years. Wouldn't mind that but prices are way about quality of the rooms. Nice breakfast.

The TV did not connect to the internet, so it didn’t work even the internet for the wifi worked fine. Otherwise the staff was great and the hotel is a bit old school, but it still seem to work. The door just need a little push and the condens on the windows is charm.
