Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Room was huge and very clean and comfortable with luxurious bathroom.
Parking - despite single yellow lines you can park on the road at any time of the day. We managed to get one of the 2 spots on the driveway.
Hotel is within walking distance of train station, cafes and shops.

Ok

The actual stay itself was nice. We got upgraded to the ‘townhouse’ rooms and we were very impressed with this. However, on the first night, we did have a mouse run across our floor and slip out under the door and into the corridor. We told somebody about this but were offered no compensation or apology as such, which would have been appreciated.

Awful.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other people should know about my experience.
I booked a table for six people well in advance and had also contacted the hotel beforehand to ask if our table could be placed beside another booking for six friends. I was assured this would be arranged.
When we arrived, there was no table with our name on it and no organisation whatsoever. We explained that we had a booking, but instead of anyone taking ownership of the situation, one member of staff simply shrugged their shoulders. We were then told to rip another group’s name off a reserved table and just take it ourselves. I couldn’t believe that this was the solution being offered by a supposed 4-star boutique hotel. It was embarrassing, unprofessional and immediately gave the impression that customer service wasn’t a priority.
The evening never really recovered after that. What should have been a special get-together became stressful and disappointing.
What has upset me most, however, is how my complaint was handled afterwards. When I spoke to William, instead of acknowledging our experience or showing any empathy, I was told, “We’re a business trying to make money.” That response alone spoke volumes about how customer concerns are viewed. Before I could continue the conversation, he ended the call.
I wasn’t looking for anything unreasonable—just an apology and for someone to acknowledge that the evening had been handled badly. Instead, I was left feeling dismissed and as though our experience simply didn’t matter.
For a hotel that advertises itself as a 4-star boutique venue, both the service on the night and the way the complaint was dealt with afterwards fell well below the standard I expected. Sadly, I won’t be returning, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it based on my experience.

This is a nice hotel but if you are restricted mobility wise there is no lift. Bearing in mind you will have luggage it won't be a good experience to carry cases 2 flights of stairs up and down.
The staff were not always around to help me with my luggage. I booked a taxi to return to the train station, housekeeping were informed I needed help going down the 2 flights of stairs but, they did not arrive and I somehow in my 70s got my cases downstairs. Definitely a disadvantage having no lift to the rooms.

Unreliable and rude. Failed to fulfill booking. Swerve these jokers!

Very rude owner acted like we were at fault complaining to us that he could not afford to keep his chef on duty at 8 pm and refused to serve us even though we had booked a table specifically for 8 pm and they took a contact phone number. Why not phone us in advance if they could not fulfill the promise? Also, why not apologise to customers in case of such poor service? These jokers do not deserve your money.

Very good location
