Had a good stay, room was big and clean and women on the front was very helpful, lent me iPhone charger that I forgot to bring, so really appreciated it

Central Hotel Gloucester
I have not booked this through Trip Advisor but booking.com, who have failed to reply to my complaints.
Reviews on booking,com were positive, but later I looked at Trip Advisor reviews with strong warnings about this hotel.
Not safe for lone women or families which then were removed. I was surrounded by rooms with men being sick, also under my window. I had to move twice, once to get away from noise from the road, was given a quiet room to have a male opposite me repeatedly slamming his door. I moved then round the corner where an unfortunate male in the next room kept crying out with a medical condition. I thought he had checked out. Then the door in this room kept being slammed heavily.
The lift is not working.
I recently had someone trying their key card on my door.

The room was spotless and comfy. Only downside was the elevator that was out of order, going up and down 3 flights of stairs a few times was tasking.

A great little find
Shoot me down if you want but I never read reviews before booking anywhere as I usually find past reviews unfounded and....again this was the case!! A great location, friendly faces at reception..and a great clean room!

This turned out to be a well run private hotel - i.e. not one of the major chains, but to a similar standard. The usual facilities were present, including fridge, microwave, kettle and hair dryer, with en suite bathroom. I read a negative review from some time back, but had no difficulty in December 2025. Breakfast involved getting 10% discount at the cafe (Poppins) across the road. It was also convenient for the train and bus stations.
