Lovely welcome but run down, dated and cleanliness isn’t great.
Positives - Location is excellent for Hamilton town centre. The beds were clean and comfortable, the room temperature was fine. TV was in working order. Shower was hot.
Negatives - The overall levels of cleanliness were poor, not bad enough to make us want to leave but everything needed a good scrub. The decor is very dated and run down. Things need painting/refreshing, and the ceiling had been polyfillered in places and just left unpainted. The bathroom was again dated, cobwebs in the corner and had black spots along the ceiling line presumably from years of condensation from the shower. The shower cubicle door didn’t open fully as it caught on the toilet. There are plenty of sockets but the only USB charging point in the room is in the back of the telly and that only gives power while the telly is on, so bring your USB plugs. A couple of the window panes were cracked. It was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel but somebody was smoking and we could smell it through the bedroom door, it may have been another guest which I appreciate is beyond the landlady’s control, but it did seem to be stronger downstairs in the communal areas.
On arrival the landlady did mention that there was tea and coffee making facilities in the room but there was no milk. She was going out and would get some while she was out. We went out to eat and on our return we opened the fridge and there was still no milk, however it turned out that the fridge was unplugged and had been left shut. I’m an emergency services worker and I’m used to unpleasant odours but the smell when I opened the fridge was awful. The lack of milk turned out not to be an issue, as there were no cups or glasses in the room anyway.
I was going to mention some of these things on departure but we didn’t see anybody on our way out. It is a shame after the lovely welcome and I don’t like leaving negative reviews but if the lady is running it alone then I think she needs to get someone in to help out.

Fantastic Stay at the Arron B&B
From arriving to leaving the Property it was a great experience,
The room I stayed in was very clean and I had a great nights sleep. Upon opening my room door I could see that my bed sheets had even been pulled back for me ( nice touch ),
The shower was amazing nothing at all was a problem.
Thank you so much for ironing my shirts for me,
I will definitely stay here again
