5* weekend break

Wow, what a hidden gem The Crown is! We were visiting family in the area and booked for a 2 night stay. On entering the room, the bedside lamps and heating were left on for us, making it feel warm and inviting. The room was large with a king size bed and a large wet room. There was a hairdryer and pair of straighteners in a raffia bag hanging by the door, mini toiletries in the bathroom along with bath sheets. A coffee maker, kettle with pods/bags is on the desk along with Love Heart sweets as a bedtime treat. We found a wooden clipboard full of information about the facilities which we found really useful. Breakfast is included at the price and it really was 5* quality ingredients. It was served in the pub and the service from the staff throughout our stay was superb. The whole weekend felt luxurious, quality products in the room, great drinks from the bar and a top notch breakfast. The parking is free, you just have to register your car registration details at the pub entrance. It really was a fantastic weekend and we can't recommend The Crown enough. We will be back very soon!

Thoughtfully designed room but poor upkeep

On first entering the room you are greeted by a refurbished, thoughtfully designed accommodation which matches what you’d expect of an English country pub. However, the room had various faults which highlight a poor eye for upkeep. There was a thick layer of dust in the rafters of the room, this followed through to the light furnishings and radiator. The skylight window appeared to have leaked at some point and the wall behind the coat hangers was in need of some maintenance. Whilst the overall feeling and intention of the room is appreciated, it simply cannot be rated highly based on the lack of maintenance.

Great place to stay

As a regular traveler it’s brilliant to find a place such as this! Great staff, great food and great accommodation. Can’t recommend this place highly enough I had a great two nights here, with excellent plant based food for dinner and breakfast too, one of the nicest vegan breakfasts in a hotel that I’ve had. The room was lovely and bed super comfortable and I enjoyed great nights sleep, large TV, plenty of power/charge points coffee machine, fridge etc just had it all

Disappointed. Dirty. Room looked tired!!

We had stayed here a couple of years Ago and it was great.
This visit however was very different and disappointing. The shower was dirty and the shower head looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for years!!
Under the bed was also deep in dust and dirt-again looking like it hadn’t been cleaned for years!! When you walked onto the floor you picked up dirt. We mentioned all of this to the cleaner and she didn’t once apologise!!
