Loved it
Fabulous, charming and characterful building with stylish decor and a relaxed atmosphere throughout.
The bar/restaurant staff work hard and never seem to stop - they do an amazing job.
The restaurant is just lovely. The food we had was superb. Perfect, delicious and thoroughly enjoyable. Breakfast was equally wonderful. Couldn’t fault it.
Room we had was spacious, beautifully decorated and very clean. Could do with a few minor maintenance fixes.
If rooster and peacock calls are considered noise pollution… then I’m fine with that!
The mattress is a bit worn. Despite this I’d totally stay here again. Bonus - spotted a red squirrel.

A wonderful stay… a chance to pause
We’ve had a lovely break. After reading some reviews, we were slightly hesitant, but we don’t regret our stay. Yes there’s a leak here or there and the building needs a bit of work, but that’s life- none of it takes away from what a lovely hotel it is. Suck it up and focus on the abundance of good around you instead, not the little cracks!
Being here, being surrounded by nature, was beautiful. The views are majestic. Loved seeing sheep, chicken and peacocks daily. The hotel itself is beautiful too.
We dined here two nights out of the five and the food was fantastic! Compliments to the chef. The pie in particular was my favourite- absolutely delicious.
We had many drinks too- wine, cocktails, both were lovely.
Staff have been wonderful- apologies if we spell her name wrong, but Paytent looked after us well. Schneider served us well at breakfast too. Thank you to both.
I’ve loved sitting by the roaring fires and just staring out.
Thank you to all the staff.

Avoid!!
Shame about the hotel itself.
Quite alot of disapointing points to be made.
The owner i think the lovely lady on the bar mentioned the name Jake. -incredibly rude - quite clearly intoxicated. Arrogant towards his own staff and even swearing at customers!! How disgraceful.
There was quite some damage to entrance to the hotel - broken flags? Quite untidy in general.
Vermins were to even to be seen running from the side of the hotel across the car park, Although i am aware this can happen in the country side.
We did have some lovely light bites on the terrace which were delicious. But i feel like the overall prices are extortionate.
Big shout out to John who looked after us very professionally.
I will not be returning

Struggling to recall the last time I might have had the opportunity for more than enough wine on the terrace to make an evening of it!
Sounds like a lot of tosh, and clearly aimed at being a damaging review with such a poor rating, having outlined that the food, staff and location are all great…?
If you’d like to get in touch to discuss and give a little more information, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

Diabolical service.
Hotel response

Is this "diabolical service", or an unnecessarily entitled customer being rude to a female member of a hardworking team, in a cashless bar, and not paying for products ordered - because the lunch menu was not available?
Is this poor service, or an offensive reaction to not getting ones own way?
The level of entitlement is sickening. This is no way to treat any member of staff.
Diabolical Customer 1/100.

Memorable Birthday Celebrations
We booked to stay at Simonstone Hall for a birthday treat for my hubby. We have stayed previously twixt Christmas and New Year when although the hall was superbly decorated we couldn't spend time out doors.
On this occasion we were able to sit outdoors, enjoy the hot tub and also explore the beautiful area, the views are truly astounding.
We were made very welcome from the minute we arrived by the fabulous reception staff. The room we had was amazing, a huge beautifully carved bed, a slipper bath which allowed you to look out over the countryside whilst enjoying the bubbles. The only problem was the peacock spying from the balcony! Very tastefully decorated and furnished.
Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all extremely helpful.
There is a lot to do to maintain a stately home which the hall would have been previously, but the owners seem to be working extremely hard to make this wonderful place truly special.
We dined with our family in the Hunt Room on our final night which was a real treat. Food was excellent and beautifully presented.
We plan on returning soon hopefully in the sunshine to sample the afternoon tea.
Thank you for a memorable experience.
