Space and amenities. i.e. kitchen and washer

- Our vacation in the Leicester area included a visit from our family travelling from Scotland with 2 young babies. Thus, we set out to look for a vacation rental instead of hotel and invited them to stay with us during their 4-day visit.
- It can be a challenge to try find this house with our navigation. Once we were familiar with the area, there was not a problem. The house is close to shops and restaurants.
- At the booking website, it stated access only allowed to the number of bedrooms needed to reduce maintenance cost; each booking included two persons, extra person(s) would be $20/person/night. So, we paid a substantial amount for the 4-night booking + cleaning and service fees.
- We left one bedroom untouched. Host was kind to not lock the room which we used to leave our suitcases in it.
- Host was very prompt in responding to questions after we had placed our initial booking.
- Our initial prepaid booking was for 4 nights, and thereafter we were to redeem free night stays to a hotel. As we couldn't be bothered to pack and unpack again, we decided to contact the host prior to our arrival to extend our stay for another 4 nights.
- The extension took a while to finalize as the host initially wanted us to pay cash (an amount that included another round of cleaning and service fee plus our initial large number of people) versus sending us a link through the booking website. This was rather unusual and eventually the host found a payment gateway allowing us to pay them directly using our card.
- The day prior to check in, we informed the host that we had a graduation as well as long drive to get to the house. It would be late evening when we arrived and would not want to cause any inconvenience.
- Enquired if on the day of check in, our guests who would arrive early could check in around noon instead of 3 pm. The host asked that our family contact him directly. So, we forwarded the host’s contact to our family.
- On day of check in - The host went to the house allowing early check in and told our family that he usually charges early check-in fees? We understand if there was a fee and no issues of paying that since our guess has a 3-month old baby and would be nice if they could get comfortable, but it was never communicated to us or was it published on the website. This was rather embarrassing as our guest had no knowledge of our rental arrangement, hence felt compel to offer to pay us.
- We also noted that trash was not picked up on the day we arrived. It was disgusting to see maggots crawling all over the bin in front of the house. We immediately informed the host and unfortunately, it took several more days before it was all picked up.
- This house did not have AC or fans. It could get real hot and uncomfortable during warm days especially downstairs. And when we tried leaving the windows open at night for some ventilation, it can get very noisy for those not used to it.
- There was a miscommunication re housekeeping delivering clean linens. As this was a vacation rental, we did not expect housekeeping or anyone else to have access to the house during our stay. It was unfortunate that the housekeeper came in with her keys without knocking or ringing the doorbell. As you could imagine, we were startled and my husband was ready to go after the housekeeper thinking she was an intruder.
We were out and about most times and rarely in the house during our stay. Overall, it was worth paying the extra for the extension to having more space than staying at a hotel, parking space and ability to wash our clothes.

Hi there thank you for your review.
Thank you for our great score of 4:5, we take any feedback seriously and we always look to improve our standards. Thank you for mentioning that we gave you free early check-in in which was 4 hours earlier and also that we left rooms open to make yourselves comfortable. I also take on board that the pricing was a little high for you however within busy times our prices fluctuate with demand. In the end the price was not too bad otherwise you wouldn't have extended your stay. Regarding payments we accept cash and card although card charges us a fee therefore cash is our preference. I remember the extension did not include guests booking costs and overall the nightly stay was discounted by myself without asking as a thank you gesture for extending with us. The bins have been investigated and was the result of a bin cleaner not doing there job properly but has been addressed now. The cleaner and laundry are generally accepted to operate in the common areas as they are picking up laundry and cleaning on different days again depending on demand. In general the property is a home from home experience with some mod cons. we do not have air con which is the same for most UK properties as 95% of the time the weather is never hot enough. I am very surprised that you found the area noisy when we are at the end of a cul de sac (no through traffic) road. In fact guests have highlighted how peaceful it is. Again we not in the countryside which would be allot different but we are very quiet considering its location.
Overall we are a new business and improving all the time.. we have had fantastic reviews on other well known sites often 10:10. We continually adding to the property and since your stay we have added a coffee table and a new set of rattan out door furniture.
We would like to add that your group have been very friendly and clean. We would be happy to host you again in the near future if you are visiting the area. Your daughter from Scotland also mentioned she may visit soon as she has friends in the area. All the best to your future thank you.
