Re: Beautiful Room and Kind Hosts

Our room at Latchmead was one of the annexes at the side of the main house - a converted barn I believe.
Firstly, as someone with a very weak immune system, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the room and en suite bathroom. The room itself is lovely - homely, very comfortable and possessing stylish, modern decor. It has been thoughtfully kitted out with high quality toiletries, hot drink facilities, fluffy towels, and a sumptuously comfortable bed and pillows.
The following morning, Paola presented me with a truly indulgent and delicious continental breakfast, delivered to my room.
Latchmead is close to Stansted Airport, so please do expect a certain level of noise, generated by planes flying overhead. However, the guest house is set in a lovely countryside dwelling, with a pretty garden and local amenities nearby.

Amazing again

The minute I realised I was working at Hockerill School again, I knew there was only one place that I wanted to stay - here! I stayed a year ago and loved the place but more so Paolo's hospitality. This time I stayed for 2 nights and was in one of the external rooms. It was comfortable, warm and welcoming. I was prepared for the communal breakfast this time and loved it. In an age where loneliness is becoming all too common amongst those of all ages, it was nice to sit and chat with others. I am always staying away for work, and it is only here that I don't feel lonely. Being able to have a chat in the evening and then again in the morning to someone is refreshing. Thank you Paolo for your wonderful hospitality! You know I am your favourite guest Satveer x

Hell.

Hoped for Husband's 70 birthday celebration. His brothers families and ours gathered to visit his nearby 15th century ancestral home. We all travelled from the U.S. when we arrived, there was a note on door. The wife had had a heart attack. While we were compassionate for her. We were in a foreign land and needed our reservations to be honored. We stayed first night( we booked four) we offered to skip house keeping and breakfast. proprietor offered to take 5 unsound a night off, a pittance. We tried negotiating and he just said leave. We all had to scramble to find another place .We had prepaid and had to hassle a refund. We all scrambled to find new places. Unfortunately we all stayed at different inns. One brother was contacted
by proprietor the night before his arrival and told to find another place. The man didn't help at all. We booked the place because of great review especially about the hosted. She ended up fine an we are glad, but I'm sure she'd hate the way we were treated.

Paolo's TLC!

My sister and I took our 91 year old mother to stay overnight at Latchmead to attend her sister's funeral the next day. It was the first time my mother had stayed away from her home for a couple of years and we were anxious as her mobility is not that good. The Annexe was absolutely perfect - all on one level, adjoining rooms, ensuite bathrooms and really comfy beds. The rooms were very cosy and warm on a snowy night! Paola couldn't have been more helpful and concerned for our mother and took her a delicious breakfast in bed in the morning. It was a perfect place to stay on a difficult occasion. Thank you Paola!
