An Excellent Evening

We decided to try Y Castell a based on comments listed in our Airbnb feedback. We were not disappointed, the welcome, by the owner John, was warm, Rachel and the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. And the food was probably the best we have had in many years. This is a gem well worth visiting and even going out of your way to visit.
Though we didn't stay the rooms looked lovely, comfortable and reasonable.
We couldn't recommend this more highly.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We visited on the recommendation of the owner of the property we were staying in nearby. We were not disappointed! The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.
The food was truly excellent. This is much more than traditional pub food. It was full of flavour, well presented and each course came with wine suggestions (which we found complimented the food very well).
Would highly recommend it.

Exceptional stay, food and service

It's a real pleasure to write this review after we stayed two nights in different rooms at Y Castell in Llangadog. We ate two evening meals, two breakfasts and also had a Sunday lunch, so we feel we exerienced lots the small hotel has to offer! Firstly the team: we met Jon, the Boss, and enjoyed both his urbanity and the fruits of his and his wife's efforts. We were greeted by manager Josie, whose enthusiams are infectious and who seemed to be everywhere at once. We were expertly served by Poppy for bar and food and also we encountered Caron, who not only helped with service but also prepared our rooms. It is these people who make Y Castell so special and memorable. The rooms were extremely clean, well presented, fully equipped and of sophisticated designs, each with their own atmosphere. Then the food: alas we don't know the name of the brilliant chef but those two AA red roses are thoroughly deserved! All courses were outstanding and the Sunday lunch was wonderful as well, including some of the best (local) beef we have ever eaten. First courses and puddings were each beautifully presented, imaginative and fabulous to eat. We would recommend the experience of eating and staying at this hotel without hesitation. Well done to all involved!

Delicious food

My husband and I chanced on this wonderful pub/restaurant by accident. The food was delicious and a much higher standard than the usual pub fayre. The service was attentive and very friendly. We will definitenly be coming again.

Fine food in familial surroundings

We chanced on this charming inn in the heart of Carmarthenshire. And I'm so glad we did. The decor is fitting and tasteful; the service was welcoming and attentive; the menu included Welsh specialities - it was all delicious. Kudos to the owners who have made a mighty fine haven.
