Really good place to stay .

We only stayed one night. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and tidy and there was a fan in the room which was great because the weather was so hot . Good place to stay if you're visiting The Forest of Dean.

Brilliant staff, very helpful! Even supplying a fan in the evening due to the increase in heat. Only thing I would say with the showers is the water appeared lukewarm even on max, however, in comparison to everything else, this is very minimal. Fantastic stay, clean room!

Turned away because of our dog - check your booking

Booked this hotel so we could park our car and do some walking. Received a text from the hotel at 11:15 asking for ETA as they needed our room for a late checkout, which we happily agreed to. Left home at 2pm and arrived some time before 7pm as the road into Lydney was closed and had to detour.
Arrived at reception with the dog, only to be told that I hadn't confirmed at booking that I was bringing our dog, despite asking for a dog friendly room.
The chap on reception rang around all the other local hotels and found another twin room ten miles away, which was a bit more expensive. It shouldn't have been this stressful. Dogs are not allowed in the main hotel and can only be booked in the rooms which exit onto the car park. Please don't make the same mistake we did.

Highly Recommend a stay here

Stayed here from the 14th March for 4 nights. Cannot recommend this Motel highly enough. Great location for exploring the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas. Very easy check in and check out. Initially stayed in room 7. Large room with a table and chairs; plenty of clothes hanging space and a lovely en suite; plenty of lovely thick towels; comfortable bed; tea/coffee making facilities; lots of TV channels; free Wifi; individual heating controls; plenty of parking spaces; extremely clean and Laura couldn't do enough for you. From the second night we moved into Room 9 which had a huge wet room/ disabled friendly very large room with a double and a single bed in. New wooden flooring in there means it is wheelchair friendly. Rooms are soundproofed and meant we had a great nights sleep. You can have a Continental breakfast but we didn't require. Dogs are allowed, in the annex rooms - with an extra £20 charge for cleaning - which is brilliant.
