Friendly staff/Amazing food

After walking up Pendle Steps we called into The Pendle Inn to be met with happy friendly staff. We ordered and ate in front of a roaring fire. The food was to the highest standard (Chicken Sinatra) . Good value for money within a beautiful setting.

Very poor cooking

Very poor food. My son and I went for lunch, the last time was a few months ago and we were served part raw chicken tenders, staff were not remotely shocked or apologetic which was concerning. We decided to give it another go today as we wanted to go for a walk locally. His tenders were fine, but I ordered gambas pil pil, £9.25- and what arrived was 5 prawns scarily overcooked swimming in a bath of oil which some raw chopped chilli’s, not remotely anything like pil pil. Three slices of ciabatta one being the end of the loaf and inedible as it was just rock hard crust, no butter and I wasn’t dipping it in a vat of oil. The chips just tasted of over used chip fat. So disappointing for the prices they charge.

Great little find!

Booked here as a quick stop over after a walk.
Was very happy with the accommodation, clean, equipt, cosy and heating had been left on for us for when we got back .
Booked a meal for the evening and the food was lovely, especially the fish and chips. Landlady was so nice and accommodating, as were all the staff. Ended up staying in the pub all night as was having such a good time.
Will definetly be returning.
Thank you

The food was at best average, at worst poor. No atmosphere in the pub

When we entered the pub at 19:00hrs on a Thursday evening we were the only people in the pub. It was a cold wet evening and even so the fires were not lit and the pub was not welcoming.
We ordered five meals, two chicken a mushroom pies, a small fish and chips, a Pendle burger and a cheese pie. Having done so we were told that there was no bacon for the Pendle burger and there was no fish. We agreed to have to Pendle burger without bacon and changed the fish and chips order to lasagne. When the meals arrived the chicken and mushroom pies, chips and peas were served without gravy and were therefore rather dry and the lasagne was cold. We had to return the lasagne to be heated up.
As far as I can see the new owners of The Pendle Inn have not invested in the business and overall things are going downhill. It is a good job that the residents of Barley have another pub to go to.

Boxing day get together with friends

We had a table booked in november for 14 of us, we had to pre order our food.
We all arrived but our table had been used by other people, so we had to have a table made up in the cold conservatory. No christmas decorations, no atmosphere,no music playing.
All the meals came out at different times (even though we pre ordered starter main and pudding) food was nothing special, was warm not hot. One meal was sent back and by this time she lost her appetite as everyone was finished. To be honest it did feel like it was yesterday's left overs.Puddings came out at very different times and when we asked for the bill (30 mins later it arrived) there was confusion.
Definitely not worth £35 per head.
