Comfortable stay
As others have written there is a £70 refundable damage deposit payable upon check in (i confirm mine was paid back in full)
Our room was on the top floor, comfortable beds, good heating.
Tv in the room is freeplay only, you have to login to a service like iPlayer to watch what's on.
Breakfast is in the bar (co owned). Bar is nice, peaceful when empty.
Non fancy breakfast, no yoghurts available says the very nice lady owner.
Its toast, butter, jam. Cereal, cornflakes, rice Krispies or bran flakes. Fruit, cereal bars, pancakes in a plastic packet. Water, apple juice, orange juice. Dolce Gusto coffee from machine in Reception
They don't have the capacity during the week to hire a chef, so cooked is weekends only and is charged for.
If guests would like hot food there is a Greggs nearby or Wetherspoons in Byker (drive away)
Overall comfortable, no complaints or issues

I know i picked a cheeper option so that’s on me but the bathtub was dirty from the previous occupant the curtains were broken so every morning would get hit with the sun. You can also here every single thing through the walls, water is especially bad any time someone uses the loo or goes for a shower you can here it like it’s in your bedroom. The bed im sure the mattress hasn’t been updated in years as it’s hard as a rock.
Very outdated although i wouldn’t usually care about the design the hallway leading up to the rooms smells so musty.
I ate on the first night i was there they were out of fish and chips so had the scampi although it was more like rock pellets and inedible.
I’d say this hotel is good if your a party goer and just want a cheep night to stay but if your just visiting friends and family like i was go for the slightly more expensive option.
