Afternoon Tea (with Groupon voucher)

Afternoon Tea - really lovely experience! Two daughters took their mum for post Mother's Day! Had an open mind because of the other reviews on here but had nothing to worry about. We arrived early and was warmly invited at reception.
We asked if we could go in the garden and take some photos of the Palm Trees and back angle of the manor house and was shown the way. We then went in the foyer and sat down and was asked if we'd like to go through. When we go there, there were about 3 other tables having afternoon tea as well. Each table was nicely laid, the chairs had wedding chair cover and a little vase of flowers was on each table. Music was nice and soft and gave a nice ambience.
We had made some personal requests for the sandwiches and was ask who was for who before she went to get the tier stands. We all had 1 each. 3 large finger sandwiches, a scone with real clotted cream and jam, 2 types of carrot cake and a coffee cake. All absolutely delicious.

Decent bed but that's about it.

The hotel was ok and just ok. The room was big with a nice Queen size comfortable bed and big fluffy towels provided, but that's where it ends. The shower over the bath attached to the bath taps was a dribble and if it did work decently it wasn't high enough for me and I am not anywhere near 6 foot. The carpet hadn't seen a vacuum cleaner in days and we saw someone with a hand held box going room to room to clean and only had a toilet roll, 2 cloths and a couple of sprays.
We missed breakfast the first morning because it was only on to 9am. Then someone knocked at the door telling us about breakfast was finished at half past. We made breakfast next morning and it was terrible, 6 choices of food on a hot plate, fried eggs, sausages, hash browns, beans, sliced tomatoes and mushrooms. The sausages were very tasteless and full of fat and the eggs were greasy sitting on the hot plate.
But worsed thing of all was that on 2 occasions staff tried to get into our room, first time the receptionist said she was checking the room thinking we hadn't booked in. The reception and bar area was ok but one person running both so the service was slow.

AVOID...

Terrible os the only word for thia place, from.the very beginning to the end, staff attitude is rude and unprofessional, rooms were not clean, been charged for even a glass of ice.

Great Location but Perhaps not for an out of season visit!

The breakfast was good and the restaurant has a good view of the grounds. The room was comfortable as was the bed. There was plenty of parking. The location was very convenient for my meeting in Northampton.
The room (515) was comfortable but a bit tired. The shower was not hot, despite waiting for some minutes, so we had to leave without showers. The bathroom was also a bit chilly. Due to the season, the hotel was very quiet and breakfast was limited from 8am to 8:30am. Also the restaurant was closed in the evening so the reception provided us with some recommendations for meals.
