Very clean room - it’s a shame the fan in the bathroom was a bit noisy! Had a couple of meals in the bar which were very tasty and good value for money. Would certainly visit again.

Check before you go for breakfast

We phoned before 9 am to check if we needed to book a table for breakfast. The lady seemed very hesitant as they were about ti stop serving. We only live a short distance away so were able to arrive there in 5 minutes. We also enquired about taking our dogs with us but were informed that the dog friendly area is the bar which was closed at this time.subsequently she informed us that they were stopping serving.
We have been regular visitors to the restaurant and were disappointed by the attitude of the lady who clearly didn’t want us there.
I would suggest you update your website as it clearly states that you are open and dog friendly.

Great location for visit to play golf at Porthcawl

The location was perfect as we were playing in a competition at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club next day. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. The food for both dinner and breakfast was very good. The only negative was that my sleep was interrupted a lot by a regular noise that sounded like chairs being scraped on a floor. That seems unlikely to maybe was due to movement of the scaffolding on the building oustide my room (2). Assuming that this was not a regular occurrence I would chose the Rose & Crown again for a future visit.

Had a great stay, the staff were very helpful and friendly, good was nice and was generally clean. Would fldefinately recommend.

The Rose and Crown is a little inn just above Porthcawl. It’s old, and charming, and the rooms are in need of a little bit of updating—-new carpet would go a long way! But the beds were very comfortable, it met our needs, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We had a light dinner there, and it was delicious.
