Perfect hospitality in a superb setting

On a summer's day Hambleton Hall is close to paradise, situated on its lovely peninsula on Rutland water. Quintessentially English yet run by an international team, this is our fourth visit for a couple of days R&R. We pushed the boat out on our first night and had Dinner with a capital D - aided and abetted by the charming and knowledgeable Sommelier, Patrick Cooper. Glorious food, sumptuous wines and a lovely atmosphere. We drifted off to bed where I fell for the Italian bed linen bigtime. Fern Room has some of the best views and is spacious. Breakfasts are beautiful and exquisitely done, though I'm still struggling to master handling hot silverware when it comes to pouring tea. The pool is open in summer and the gardens shelve gracefully towards bucolic meadows and the blue waters beyond. In the heat, it seemed perfectly reasonable to adjourn to the terrace but there's an inviting lounge if it all seems too much. The hotel staff are a delight. We left with a great sense of wellbeing, resolved to return.

Stay at Hambleton Hall

We really enjoyed our three day stay at Hambleton Hall. Everything was spot on. The room comforts were great. The dining experience was excellent. The staff were helpful always. As older rather than younger, we appreciated the lift for reaching our bedroom (Fern) on the first floor. The terrace tables and chairs were much appreciated in the warm and sunny weather.
We will be returning.

Its just always perfect.

Just always the best. Hambleton Hall just gets it all right. From the welcome at reception to the spot on service, beautiful room with an amazing view of Rutland water, nothing is too much trouble here. Everything you need is provided, even walking maps in the rooms .
Dinner was delicious …a gently churning menu, important when you are staying more than one night.
Will definitely be back…its a real treat.

Wishes can come true

For some years now, Hambleton Hall has been one of our most special go-to places to celebrate events or simply relax. Over this time it has steadfastly held on to its country house charm, comfort, tranquility and dining excellence for which the old Michelin ideal of a place worth making an out of the way trip to holds very true. This visit, to celebrate a special birthday was no exception. As usual all the staff were welcoming, enthusiastic and knowledgeable and our room well appointed, quiet and very comfortable. The weather was truly kind and we were soon seated on the terrace, sipping champagne and viewing the beautifully kept gardens and distant sparkling Rutland water with swooping Ospreys easy to see. The evening meals were, as usual fabulously prepared works of art. The restaurant spread in intimate dining areas with views from the windows enhanced the experience. Hambleton's star chefs are great in still allowing a good menu choice as opposed to just a tasting menu and being adaptable to special food requirements. All the dishes looked superb and were really tasty. An outstanding middle course of mouthwatering, mousseline-stuffed courgette flower especially spring to mind and the mains of the tenderest Iberico pork and superbly cooked Turbot were worth a couple of hours travelling time for anyone! For amazing consistency and service over the past few decades, Hambleton well deserves the highest accolades. The ancient motto over its door invites one to do as one wishes. We can only wish that we can pass through that portal many more times in the yearts to come.

Just perfect in every way

Fabulous two night stay in this beautiful hotel. We have been to the hotel before but not to stay. Service is absolutely spot on, good old fashioned straight forward service. Not trying to over complicate anything. Food was probably the best we have had in a five star hotel. Breakfast and dinner were sublime. Our room Lotus was just beautiful with the best views of the lake from the bedroom and the bathroom. The bar area is relaxing and the bar staff very knowledgeable about cocktails etc. we had amazing weather so spent quite a bit of time by the pool. Hambleton itself is picturesque and nearby Oakham is beautiful. We will definitely be back. It’s not cheap but it’s worth every penny, probably our number one favourite hotel.
My only niggle would be not having coffee and tea making facilities in the room, it can be quite a faff getting room service for coffee and tea in the morning.
