Weekend away

A great hostel check in isn't till 5pm but you can leave your luggage in the lounge if you arrive early and explore the place. We had a twin room with our own shower room.
Good size kitchen and dinning room and a lounge and free tea coffee and hot chocolate. There was breakfast at £ 4.50 for a choice of croissants, cereal, bread, fruit and fruit juice

Love at first sight

We literally loved staying in Pitlochry Backpackers Hotel. Check-in is quite late, but if you arrive early, you can wait in the beautiful lounge and make yourself tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Or you can leave your luggage here and explore the town meanwhile. All shared spaces are tidy at any time of the day, a kitchen is big and contains everything you could need. All the staff were kind and friendly. The mattress in our two-bedded bedroom was a bit worn out, but as we felt there as a part of the family, we enjoyed our stay anyway. We will definitely come back sometime.

Great place to stay but rude man on reception which is not usually the case

I always use the backpackers when in Pitlochry for the Enchanted Forest. My previous reviews on booking.com are always 10 stars and I mention how lovely the staff are. Sadly when I visited Friday 31st Nov this year that wasn't the case. I asked the man on reception if someone new had taken over as there had been changes made. He said "No" and looked at me as if I was an idiot for having asked the question. If I had been a tourist from abroad I would not have felt that was a friendly, Scottish welcome at all. I then went up at 5pm to check in (which is the time noted down for check in) I was told in his brusque manner to wait in the lounge. We had a meal booked and then the Enchanted Forest so I asked very politely if we could check in now. There was only one lady who he had just finished dealing with so I didn't think there would be a problem as no one else was waiting. Three men who had also been directed to the lounge came in after us so we were next to be checked in, there was no one else waiting at this point and we had been in the lounge since 4.30pm. Rather than just checking us in he said "yeh well everybody expects to get booked in at 5pm and this just isn't possible so you will have to wait" NOBODY else was at reception and we had arrived before anyone else waiting in the lounge. Hopefully when I return next year it will be the lovely staff on reception again. Also shout out to the young American girl with long blonde hair. She was extra helpful and friendly just the kind of staff you would expect to meet. The man needs a training course in manners.
Aside from that as always the backpackers was clean, comfy and warm and I will continue to recommend it as I do with everyone I know who is visiting Pitlochry.
