Wonderful experience
It's is a very lovely,homely & comfortable hotel,yet very modern.It has a lovely lively atmosphere if you want a quiet spot to sit and relax there is plenty of nice areas.The food is very good and really big portions, even the small plates.It is a very warm,clean hotel,the room feel very deluxe.The staff are the star of the hotel they are very professional,efficient, helpful & friendly.
Only 1 negative when we were there both restaurants were very busy, so we had to wait a bit longer for our food.But that wouldn't put me off recommend to friends,we hope to return in the future

Dreadful food
Dreadful food, breakfast buffet was dreary. Tinned fruit? Last time I had tinned fruit was at my Grans when I was a kid. Miserable staff. Music was over bearing. A place to avoid

Quite disappointing.
Lovely friendly staff. Good good with acceptable menu though several choices had run out in the evening. Location good with convenient connections to Lake District but some noise from road. Room rather gloomy. Only 2 plug sockets which were not near the bed. Pathetically small freestanding mirror on bathroom windowsill. For the price of the room would expect bottled water to be provided. Probable wouldn’t visit again.

I'm also sorry that some menu choices had run out during your evening meal. We do our best to manage stock carefully, but occasionally popular dishes can sell out, particularly during busy periods.

Poor bar service
Came here for a drink and food. This at 18.15 . There was a table empty but reserved from 20.00. I asked the bar staff for a menu and was told I couldn't have one because they had no tables available till 20.15. We would have eaten and gone by that time.

I'm sorry that our team didn't explain the situation more clearly when you visited. We had tables available in the bar and you were more than welcome to sit and enjoy a drink. Unfortunately, however, we had a large party booked in for 6.30pm in the restaurant who had pre-ordered their food, followed by further bookings throughout the rest of the evening until we had availability for food at 8.15pm, we have one kitchen that all the food orders are served from, and they were unable to accommodate additional food orders until later in the evening.
We appreciate that this wasn't made clear to you at the time, and we're sorry for the misunderstanding. We hope you'll give us another opportunity to welcome you and enjoy a meal with us.

A hidden gem
We stayed for one night and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The overall decor was modern and lovely, very comfy beds, brand new bathroom, attentive staff and service all round was five star. Food delicious. We will be back
