Highly recommended

Excellent food and good atmosphere for a 2 night stay at a friendly pub. Clean basic rooms at a good price but with everything you need as a base for exploring the area. Recommended and we will return soon

Average at best

Based on others users reviews we were really looking forward to eating here. Unfortunately the food was mediocre at best.
Kids food- frozen pizza for almost £9. I would expect a home made pizza
Pies- nice filling topped with store bought puff pastry, just lazy

Sunday lunch

We visited today as a family of three for the Sunday carvery and had a lovely meal. The food was delicious and everything cooked really well. One of the best Sunday lunches we've had. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a really enjoyable meal and would happily return. Highly recommend!

The perfect location for visiting Whitby

The Forge is the perfect location for visiting Whitby and exploring the surrounding area. Friendly and very welcoming staff. Lovely, spotlessly clean room, with everything you need, Didn't have a meal from what looked like a very good menu but if the breakfast is anything to go by, the restaurant food will be equally as good. The full English was perfect and delicious. A lovely village inn that I will certainly return to in the future. Highly recommended.

Ideally located and welcoming country Inn.

Just right for exploring the surrounding countryside and going in to Whitby. We had come across the county and had stopped to visit Castle Howard. Even though we were a bit early arriving, this did not cause a problem. Very friendly staff welcomed us and we were shown to our room. Our room was clean and well appointed, but I did find the bed rather low, as I am elderly. We had an evening meal at the Forge with a huge portion of fried fish, which was delicious. The beer was very good. There was no problem with noise and we both slept soundly.
