Lovely start to our holiday
We stayed at Great Hallingbury Manor the night before our early flight from Stansted to Rome, and it was the perfect start to our holiday. The hotel itself is lovely, with lots of character and some beautiful grounds. Our room was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for an overnight stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which always makes such a difference. We also had a meal and drinks during our stay and really enjoyed both. Everything was relaxed and the service was good, so we were able to unwind before travelling the following morning. The location is particularly convenient for Stansted, which was exactly what we were looking for, and it made travelling the next morning so much easier. I know the aircraft noise is something that gets mentioned in the reviews, and yes, you are very close to the flight path, but honestly it didn't spoil our stay at all. Overall, we had a really pleasant stay and would happily stay again when flying from Stansted.

Bed bugs from hotel ruined my holiday
Staying in this hotel before my flight to France ruined my family holiday due to a bed bug infestation. We stayed for one night, leaving at 4am to catch an early flight for our two week holiday. By the time I boarded the plane, I was itching like mad but assumed it was a few mosquito bites. When I got to my destination, however, I realised I was covered head to toe in bed bug bites. By the next morning the bites had turned into blisters due to an allergic reaction and ruined my holiday. I had to spend money on steroids, pain killers, antihistamines. We had to bin clothes that were ruined by trying to wash them on a high heat to kill the bugs. I alerted the hotel and they have closed off the room. They offered a refund and complimentary night's stay in one of their hotels. Like a sick joke! I turned down the offer and have demanded my costs be repaid and they've refused to return my emails. I have had a message from their insurers, who said they would come back to me in 90 days. Dreadful service. Stay at your own risk!

This was meant to be a 4star hotel stay for a night prior to a well awaited break in Italy. However it was disappointing on a number of points. Firstly while I realise a 17th building will not have lifts there was zero offer of help with bags up a lot of staircases. Soundproofing is aLos non existent with Stansted so close. I think the hotel needs to look ant putting secondary glazing in to help reduce the noise. Luckily we had earplugs! Other issues encountered were smelly drains in the bathroom, electric points not working by bed, no bulb in night light. In the restaurant the lights had a constant flicker which the staff said was a constant issue. Would be a nightmare for someone with epilepsy! Also the sea bass fillet served that evening was the smallest piece of fish!!! We asked for another piece as it was serious tiny!!!

Not good
Got here late on a bank holiday at 9.45 everything is shut
The room is a room the shower is a complete disaster
And i swear if i get bitten by a bug the place will be getting a nice letter from my solicitor
But at least the tv works

TAKE EARPLUGS! The hotel is directly under the flight path.
Double bed is only a standard 4’6” - too small for 2 adults in this day and age (and also it’s quite firm!).
Very friendly staff.
