Excellent food with great service

Family meal for 11 at the hotel. Food was outstanding with good choice and variety.
Staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive.
We had a large party of 11 and were accommodated in the separate pricing dining area at the back which was just perfect for our visit and occasion .
First time visitor and we will certainly be back.
Would highly recommend - thank you to all staff at Strathaven Hotel x

Excellent staff, food not so much!

The setting, interior and staff are the absolute stars of the show by a country mile. Stacy in particular is nothing short of exceptional, with Finley not far behind.
Unfortunately that's probably where the positives end. Service was incredibly slow, to be served very basic food, average at best. The "side salad" consisted of some purple leaf absolutely drowned in bright green oil, which led to a rather upset stomach. Considering the price, it is really quite poor value for money. This was my 2nd visit this year, the first was for afternoon tea which was gifted. If it wasn't a voucher for the afternoon tea I would have complained. The service and quality on the day were both poor, and ended up being charged for a cappaccino without being explained that it wasn't included. There are better value options locally that include cappuccino, latte etc and it was only 1 so it seemed a bit mean. Unfortunately I will be highly unlikely to revisit, and would rather make a bit of a longer journey to somewhere with better food and better value.

I've used this hotel several times over recent years and it is on a downward trajectory. The worst part was the toilets adjacent to the dining and bar area, they were truly revolting, what one might expect at a busy football stadium rather than a quiet hotel on a Bank Holiday weekend! No excuse for that! Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful but one rather slow barmaid let me sit in an empty bar for over fifteen minutes before realising I wanted to order food. Chipped paint, bathroom towels with holes and grubby carpets paint a picture of slow decline... I won't be back!

Disappointed dining experience

Nice dining room with helpful staff but unfortunately poor quality food - the specials included Lasagne - but regrettably very poor quality with minimal meat content.The general feeling of our company was food quality was only average but considered to be overpriced.

The Strathaven is an ideal stopping point when heading to or from Glasgow. It's very comfortable, quiet and good value. Staff are relaxed and friendly 👍
