Worst hotel ever

This is easily the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The guy at reception was great, very helpful, but unfortunately that was the best thing about this place. The walls leading to our room were covered in what looks like black mould or damp or whatever it is, with a pungent smell that lingers through the corridors.
When we got the the room the first thing I noticed was a half rolled rug (carpet off cut) in the middle of the floor, decor that has been around longer than I have, I’m 38. The bathroom is absolutely disgusting. There’s thick, matted hair all in the sink plug, hair in the shower, a dirty shower curtain and even worse shower head, rust all over the toilet. I turned the tap on and the water just gathered because of the hair blockage.
There’s nobody to complain to after hours either, the receptionist had gone.
My son woke me up at 11pm to say that he heard someone knocking doors and screaming, which put me on edge for the whole night. We hardly slept. Didn’t shower. The place is filthy and uncared for.
I have no idea what kind of people are giving great reviews for this place because they must have a whole different part to this ‘hotel’. Don’t waste your money. Go to a premier inn.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming and beds were clean and comfortable but the hotel needs a lot of TLC.
Decor poor in places and simple things like broken bin in the room, dirty or damaged sealant in the bathroom were noticed.
We used it as a one night stopover for an event in Tamworth and for the price it did the job.

An absolute disgrace of a hotel. Only staffed for check-in and the guy was pleasant enough. Dirty towels thrown in wardrobe on arrival. Mould everywhere in room. Blood on sheets. Toilet door was off the runner so we couldn’t even use it. Ripped carpets. Seriously was like something out of a nightmare. Smashed windows that didn’t open. Layers of dust….. I could go on and on!!!! It was t even cheap!

The Good, the Bad and then there is the lack of sleep…

The good included the pleasant and friendly welcome and the service from the hotel's team throughout, plus the comfortable bed, the large TV and good Wi-Fi.
The bad is down to the room that you are allocated; having stayed a couple of times, some rooms are more pleasant than others in terms of décor, comfort, cleanliness and maintenance.
The lack of sleep was the major issue, dependant on where you room is located in the hotel will determine the level of external noise you will endure, saying that the level of noise is always high wherever you are in the hotel but in some rooms it is impossible to sleep due to the din coming from the various pubs and nightclubs adjacent to the hotel, I endured loud noise until 4 am in the morning only to be woken at 7 am by the roadsweeper cleaning the streets.
What is unacceptable is that the hotel does not inform or warn guests of the noise issues or even when you experience this issue to apologise for guests lack of sleep when sleep is actually what you are paying for.
Also be warned with some rooms on the second floor there is no lift.
The railway station is a good thirty minute walk to the hotel.

Disgraceful

I always try and support small independent hotels with fair but positive reviews. But I'm going to make an exception for this place.
The place was covered in scaffolding when I arrived. Fair enough, I thought, they're spending money on maintenance - re-roofing the building.
I suspect I was the only guest that night. The guy in the t-shirt vaping on the steps turned out be the receptionist - didn't need to ask my name. To say the interior was scabby and dingy was an understatement. In the corridors, large patches of black mould on the walls, peeling paper, buckets to catch the water coming through the ceilings. The room was at least dry, but basic and cramped with a bathroom of about 2 square meters (I measured it, roughly), about the size of a train toilet, with the basin relegated to the room itself. I had to stand on the toilet seat to open the shower door. No doubt there are all sorts of building regs being flouted here - you wouldn't get away with this in a domestic property never mind a hotel.
There was a restaurant of sorts, in the basement, reached by red-carpeted stairs with a filthy blackened track down the centre. I didn't bother. There was a "lounge", full of junk.
But the real lowlight was the bar, "open till 11", a sort of real-ale place. Great I thought, it's 10, I'll have a pint. I hadn't banked on the surliness of the barmaid, I'd obviously intruded on her evening's solitude. I settled for a half while she upended stools and mopped the floor around me in hostile silence.
I've read some of the good reviews - and don't recognise the place. Someone must have made a cynical decision to keep the place open when it needed to be closed completely for the serious roof issues to be sorted. And that's unforgivable. This place is a disgrace.
