Best pub food we have had

We regularly visit the Copley Arms and for good reason. We are always impressed with the quality of service, food and atmosphere in this village pub.
The owners and staff really know what they are doing here. This is high end hospitality in the heart of this Cornish village. There are plenty of seating areas outside by the river. The pub and restaurant have been refurbished to a very high standard and it is our go to venue to take guests as the food is a constantly high standard, far above any other venue in this part of Cornwall.
The rooms have all been renovated again to a very high standard and a very reasonably priced.
So put simply this is the best food I have ever had in a pub. Top marks to the chef and staff.
I would highly recommend you visit “The Copley”

A Tale of Two Visits

We first visited for a Sunday roast and were really impressed. The portions were generous, the quality of the meat and other ingredients was excellent, and the service was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed it so much that we booked again for an early Father’s Day lunch.
Unfortunately, our second visit was a completely different experience. The service was almost non-existent, and we struggled to get anyone’s attention throughout the meal. When the food arrived, it was only just warm, which was particularly disappointing given how much we had enjoyed our first visit.
It’s a shame because our initial experience had set such a high standard. Based on our second visit, we are unlikely to return, which is disappointing as we had hoped to become regular customers.

Ok food but very slow service when busy.

We booked for Sunday lunch and arrived early at the start of service. Pleasant on arrival. Sunday roast was nice and adequate portion. Fish & chips were great both adult and child portions. Service then was very slow to clear, offer dessert and bring desserts. Child meal offer was ice cream but they had none to offer. Staff seemed disinterested and too few for what became busy restaurant. Desserts provided with inadequate cutlery & no cream. We had waited so long ate and got up to pay the bill. Doubt we'd return.

Very disappointed!

We’ve been to The Copley Arms several times in the past. We usually visit a couple of times when in Cornwall on holiday. It’s a pub with atmosphere and we’ve had good meals there.
However we visited 27th June and were very disappointed. The menu was okay somewhat limited but differed from their on line. We asked about ‘the catch of the the day’ fish and were told “it’s Sea bass”. We both opted for that and it was duly delivered. It was a very small fillet laid nicely on several sticks of broccoli! It was accompanied by a small dish containing three small new potatoes with a sauce. And that was it!
I’ve had Sea bass before and every time it has been a Sea bass. A full fish! Not a fillet that would easily fit into a spec case. We should have been told that it was only a fillet. Sea bream on the menu was listed as a fillet!
On the good side it was very nice but…..
Two other couples made comment, one asking for more potatoes!
Two meals a pint and a half of beer - £60….
Never again.

Excellent value

3 night stay on my S W Coastpath walk. Room was excellent and immaculate with everything needed including fresh milk outside the room door every morning. A nice extra touch. The staff and their attention to detail were first class. The breakfast was superb in choice and quality and the cost to stay was very reasonable. The only slight disappointment was the portion size at dinner for the price. But overall an excellent stay.
