Wonderfully peaceful rural retreat

Absolutely wonderful! We were warmly welcomed and treated almost like family from start to finish. Ann cooked a great breakfast and delicious cakes, and Michael was an excellent host. Bed was super comfy and duvet like a warm cloud. And loads of pillows - felt very luxurious.
The Ransome Room had a lovely view across fields and of the many bird species flirting around the feeder.
Only a short walk to the local pub for dinner (though the rooms have fridges - nice quiet ones! - in case you want to put something in).
Delicious breakfast with a wide range of choices. A really peaceful place, away from the madding crowd! Will return again and stay longer this time!

Lovely stay on my 50th Birthday

Stayed in the Potter room , lovely place , clean and comfy bed . Short walk to pub along old railway line . The owners very friendly and welcoming, free drink and cake on arrival. The breakfast was excellent, you choose exactly what u want in it , would highly recommend for a nice quite stay .

Lovely and peaceful

Beautiful location with fabulous views and so quiet.
Lovely rooms and our bedroom was clean, comfortable and with views over the surrounding countryside.
Breakfast was lovely as was the dining room with a great selection of foods.
The flapjacks, made by Ann the owner were delicious and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend this location

Wonderful homely stay at Coniston

We stayed at The Old Rectory last week and when we got there we were warmly welcomed by Anne who showed us to our room which was spacious for our stay. The bed was extremely comfy. Anne offered us complimentary tea and cake which we enjoyed in the garden after we’d settled in our room. In the morning Michael welcomed us for breakfast which was of a generous size and always offered more which wasn’t necessary due to the portion size. Our table in the morning overlooked the garden with an abundance of birds that we enjoyed watching. Every afternoon when we arrived back we’d have a chat with Michael and head up to our room where there was fresh flapjack waiting in our room and our bed had been remade. The personal touches made our stay more pleasurable. The walk into Coniston took around 40 minutes and there were lovely local walks down to the lake which we took daily which took around 20 minutes. This as been the most relaxing stay I’ve had in a while

Peaceful and beautiful surroundings ideal for a quiet getaway.

Just stayed for the weekend Micheal and Ann couldn't have been more welcoming. Comfortable rooms and amazing breakfast couldn't do enough for us.
