Spotless

Spent one night here on our way to Ardrossan for the ferry to Arran. Room was spotless, facilities were great and there's a nice restaurant a short walk away. It's on a fairly busy road but this was no problem at all. Parking around the back and easy access via a key box. Very comfortable night's sleep.

2 night stay!!

By the time we arrived we already felt like we new Dougie (owner) as he had been in contact to advise re directions from boat. We were delighted with the accommodation, great size for 3 girls, beds very comfy and bed linen and towels spotless. Meet with Dougie and the beautiful Freddie (the dog), recommended lovely place to eat on Friday, gave us a reliable taxi firm that we used for the 2 days. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for the memories. Claire

Troon’s little treasure

Stayed for 2 nights whilst over for family holiday. From booking through to goodbye it was nothing but a pleasant, friendly and very personal service. Family run with Douglas and Leigh living below and always on hand to help. Douglas made contact pre arrival to make sure we knew where we were heading to. We had easy entrance to the property and were very impressed by the cleanliness, space and facilities in the room. Douglas popped up and made sure we had everything we needed. Very engaging and gave good advice on where to eat and best form of transport during our stay as we needed to visit Ayr which is super close. Beds very comfy also and bathroom facilities great. All this was topped by Freddie the family dog who we wanted to take home. Perfect for families and friends. Genuinely great stay and if we’re back in that area we’ll be back - and likely putting Freddie in our luggage this time. Definitely worth a stay if visiting Troon, Ayr or surrounding areas.

Fab!

Stayed for 2 nights! Room was spotless and beds/pillows are super comfy.. owner was so welcoming and recommended a lovely restaurant for an evening meal. Added bonus of meeting Freddie the family pet. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

Not our best experience

It was only after arrival that we discovered that No2 Troon Road was no longer offering Bed and Breakfast. In fairness the confirmatory email had stated ‘No meals included’ but No2 Troon Road’s booking portal confirmation on which I had relied made no reference to this. All but the most recent reviews on their website and on Trip advisor referred to excellent breakfasts.
On return home I have looked again at the web and their website was headed ““No.2 Troon Road B&B, Bed & Breakfast Accommodation in Troon

The only website reference to 'no food' was buried in FAQ, so I feel my misapprehension was understandable
I quite understand that Covid has caused disruption to standards but every other B&B in which I stayed since the pandemic has made changes explicit prior to booking. My view of No. 2 is therefore jaundiced.
• All contact with proprietor Douglas during our stay was via SMS – only on departure did we see him.
• Although the bed linen was spotless, the bed cover reeked of B.O.
• The room was cold and it took an SMS call to get the heating turned on
• Bed firmness is a matter of taste but any movement by my wife or myself was reflected across the bed –‘soft’ doesn’t come close to describing it
• Being 6’2” the bed-head and loo being tucked under the ceiling eaves were most inconvenient.
Definitely not value for money – our next stay in the area will definitely be elsewhere.
