Midweek break

Lovely charactered hotel with friendly helpful staff.
Amazing views of the sea and town.
Breakfast very good including catering for gluten free intolerance.
We requested a room change for our second night and this was not questioned, new room ready the next day and staff moved our belongings while we were out sight seeing.
Would definitely stay again…

Dated standard bedrooms

Reception, bar & restaurant areas are really nice with updated decor. Standard bedrooms are very dated, though clean. But one we stayed in had peeling edges of wallpaper, cracked washbasin, marked bath, mould marks on bathroom walls, peeling window frames that was chocked open with crude wood block, inadequate furniture, stained carpet etc. Don't think the quality was there for £120 per night, better standard in Premier Inns to be honest. Parking is a big issue, need to reserve it in advance, worth it for the £8.

Yearly Whitby trip

Just arrived home . This was our fourth visit to this hotel . Loved having a room on the ground floor however it was very dated . I realise that over the last two years the hotel is having a major revamp so understandably these things take time . Our bedroom had an heavily stained carpet , Rust on the plughole in the bath and on the radiator . The linen and the room were spotlessly clean .
The food was lovely in the restaurant but the female blonde manager clearly was having a bad day . Twice my husband acknowledged her and said good morning but he was ignored . Not good customer service .
The beauty of this hotel are the stunning views and this is one of the reasons we return yearly. Just hoping that next year the scaffolding will be down and all the rooms will have had their refresh .

Hi Krystle_@, Thanks for your feedback and continued custom at the hotel. We are upgrading the hotel and have completed 60 of the 142 bedrooms, restaurant, bar, coffeeshop, reception, 2 new toilets and a new lift. We hope to improve all areas of the hotel over the next few years. (If guests would like a refurbished room, please book a Deluxe, Family or Four Poster) There is scaffolding to one section of the hotel as we complete external repairs and redecoration. The team and I look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Whitby. Regards Andrew

Lovely stay in a lovely hotel!

Hotel is in a fantastic spot with great views of Whitby.
Room was very modern and clean, hotel bar was very cosy with lots of seating both inside and outside under cover.
We paid for the breakfast buffet and glad we did as it was lovely with great selection of items all cooked really well.

Stayed in an updated family room. Very nicely presented, clean and well stocked with teas, coffees and hot chocolate. Beautiful high ceiling and perfect room for our son to sleep in. Bunk beds were sturdy...always a worry when travelling with a large teenager! Bedding fresh and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic and out did some of the more well known hotel brands, so much choice and all fresh. The views are brilliant and there is a lot of spaces in the hotel, games room, cafe, bar and restaurant. Little seating areas to take a drink into and relax. We found the walk to our room a bit far, with lots of steps as one of us has mobility issues but we managed. Already looking to return next year!
