Poor standard of food
As it was my birthday we thought we would head to this pub for a birthday meal. So disappointed. I ordered Ribs and 'cajun' chicken wings.Husbabd had fish & chips. Food wasn't rushed coming out which is a good sign. However food not so. Ribs, more bones than meat, with very little bbq sauce, chicken wings..definitely not cajun flavoured. Never tasted chicken so bland, actually tasted like boiled chicken. Salad looked like pre prepared with a dressing, so overtime gone soggy. Husbands fish and chips OK, not great just OK. Not an enjoyable meal for me at all. When the waitress came to collect the plates and asked how things were, I informed her that I hadnt enjoyed the food, she apologised and said she would feed this back and off she went. I did not hear/see her again! Nice pub for drinks and atmosphere but won't return for food.

Not the best experience of our holidays
We stayed at The Bugle Coaching Inn for two nights while travelling with our children.
The staff were very kind and welcoming throughout our stay, which we really appreciated.
Unfortunately, the hotel itself could do with some refreshing. Our room felt quite dated, and the bathroom was particularly inconvenient. It was almost impossible to take a proper shower because there was only a bathtub with a hand-held shower head. To make matters worse, the bathtub was located under an inclining wall, which made it impossible to stand and shower.
As the hotel is very old and without a lift, guests should also be aware that the walk to some of the rooms can be quite long.
We were also disappointed with the breakfast. The menu sounded very appealing, but the food itself didn’t taste as good as we had expected. We were particularly frustrated by the fact that it wasn’t possible to make even small changes to the dishes.
As we were travelling with our children, who are rather picky eaters, this made breakfast quite challenging. For example, we asked whether our son could have scrambled eggs with bacon but without the smoked salmon that was already mixed into the eggs. Unfortunately, this wasn’t possible. Since our son doesn’t eat fish, he had to spend his breakfast picking pieces of salmon out of his scrambled eggs.
Overall, the friendly staff were the highlight of our stay, but the outdated rooms, impractical bathroom, and inflexible breakfast menu meant that our experience didn’t quite live up to our expectations.

Disappointing end to the holiday.
The food here is usually very good but on this occasion I tried the Lasagna Al Forno and it was not as described on the menu.
Isle of Wight beef and tomato sauce as described were good ,but served without layers of pasta or creamy bechamel .
The creamy bechamel sauce had unfortunately been substituted by Mozzarella which becomes hard and stringy when melted and the pasta was in small pieces. The combination was not good and I was unable to eat it.
The situation was worsened by not being offered an alternative or possible refund . A disappointing family meal for me to mark the end of our holiday.

Avoid at all costs!
We were travelling around the Island for a week. We called in here for breakfast, but really wished we hadn't! By far the worst meal of our entire holiday.
The staff were rude and unpleasant, especially the lady who was waitressing. She had no people skills whatsoever and made it clear that we were in the way of the cleaner.
The breakfast was the tiniest we had seen all week, and the scrambled eggs were watery and unpleasant. The 'bacon' was three tiny strips of mostly fat. Very unpleasant.
Eating at The Bugle was not a nice experience, and I would recommend people avoid at all costs, unless, of course, you don't mind tiny portions of unappetising food!
I give it one star for being dog friendly!!!

Awful meal
Three of us went for dinner after a day out on the mainland. We have eaten here before for lunch which was very nice. Unfortunately the main meals were horrible. We ordered 2 x split decisions and 1 fish and chips. The ribs had no meat on them, they looked like someone had already eaten all the meat off them and the bones were then served to someone else with a drizzle of bbq sauce. The chicken was very tough and dry. The fish was soggy with more batter than fish and the salad tasted like vineger. The service was ok and the staff were friendly enough but I wouldn't go back there for a meal.
