Absolutely fantastic staff, lost my house key her and they took the trouble of mailing it out. Absolute joy to talk with and very accommodating.

Huge thank you

I stayed in the private bedroom with en suite so it was more like a hotel than a hostel for me. Comfortable bed, reliable shower and a great location for the railway station and city centre with a great price for my needs.
Also a huge thank you to the people that found my lost wallet and helped to get it back to me the other end of the country.

Brilliant hostel

A brilliant hostel with absolutely amazing staff, especially Pat as stated in other reviews.
It's really excellent value by York standards, especially considering it's in a convenient location, and offers a range of high-quality shared dorms and private rooms as well as some really nice communal areas like a bar, a cozy living room and a garden. It always has a safe, relaxed and friendly feel; it offers great chances to interact with a really interesting mix of guests from around the world, but at the same time if you'd rather keep yourself to yourself that's not a problem.
As mentioned what really makes it though is the staff, especially Pat. The two times I've visited he went absolutely above and beyond to help us and make us feel welcome at all hours. He's a large part of the reason why the hostel has such a great atmosphere, and as someone who works in customer service myself he's a real inspiration. On a personal level he's a fascinating guy to talk to as well.
All in all a really wonderful experience from start to finish, we'll definitely be back.

Brilliant hostel only a short walk into the historic centre of York. All facilities present and in good condition, very friendly and helpful staff. Can't think of anything that could have been improved upon.
