The room was clean, and the staff was great. Be aware that garage parking is not included in the room charge (and it's like $14/night), and there isn't a lot of it. One night we ended up parking on the street because it was full when we got back.
We visited in July, which is typically a slow period, but that weekend had a lot of sporting events going on and campus visits.
I've stayed there in the past and will continue to, if I can get a good deal on pricing and/or need to be walking distance to campus.

High rating undeserved

Lifetime Marriott traveler with 600k Bonvoy points. Number of things. First, asked for upgrade (Gold) at checkin and told there is no upgrade because all rooms are the same. OK. Next, had to pay $14 per night for car parking and they'd only allow one car to park. Third, told our room was "with a view" but found out no room has any view. Fourth, room's couch is modern. Nice looks, bu the back of the couch is so far behind your legs that only a very tall man could handle it. Next, in sitting area one floor lamp at one end of sofa that is exceedingly dim. Other end of sofa no light at all. No end tables at either end of sofa so no place to set coffee or drinks or phone. Next, only one towel rack in bathroom. Housekeeping only every other day. Seriously? Covid got you this savings and you took it and ran with it?
Finally, keep having to sign myself in to your WIFI network. It keeps kicking us off. Sign in again... On my phone. On my computer. On my wife's phone. On my wife's computer. Then try to sign in on my Kindle, but no. It doesn't work. Marriott's wifi is a closed system and maybe Marriott doesn't know customers read on their Kindles?
Marriott used to be customer service. It's why I stuck with you over a lifetime. The staff here is wonderful. It's your owner or corporate who made the decisions that are documented above. Poorly done.

Tim747,
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your stay. I am a big fan of TripAdvisor as it gives travelers a tool to get some insight before they book a stay in a hotel they've not experienced. Your feedback is tremendous, let me address a couple things.
1. Yes, we are located 2 blocks north of the downtown square in Bloomington Indiana. The term "View" is highly perceptive, so we certainly aren't overlooking a park or beach or anything of that nature. We are a 5 story building so even a high overlook view isn't something we can offer. Now, as you and I spoke about on property, we do have rooms that overlook College Avenue which is one of the main arteries into the downtown area. I think our location to campus and the downtown square are the highlights, but a view from the room is going to be pretty standard.
2. As a Springhill Suites, all of our rooms are designed as slightly larger rooms (25% larger than your standard hotel room) but not as large as an extended stay room. Every room in this building has the sitting area with work desk, and the West Elm sofa with trundle bed. This area is separated from the sleeping area with a half wall. Every room is set up this same way so the only 'Upgrade' at this particular all suite property would be room location- Upper floor/Lower floor- quieter room typically not facing college avenue, or a room with more to see that overlooks College avenue.
2a. The West Elm sofa is a deep sofa, but this is due to our design being centered around families and groups, so that the top of the sofa is also utilized as a futon style sleeping area. Then the trundle bed pulls out from below, avoiding the uncomfortable fold up mattresses.
3. Housekeeping is daily here, I do apologize if there was some confusion there, but we are not utilizing Covid era regulations, our housekeeping team cleans or refreshes every room every day unless a guest asks that they not.
4. Lastly, I will reach out to our property's internet support on the wifi log in issue. I believe they can set it up where there isn't the need to log in multiple times, but to be honest I'm not sure at this moment. Internet and cyber safety are major issues these days, so maybe that is a protection protocol, I will certainly inquire.
Again, I truly appreciate your feedback, we strive to be the cleanest and friendliest hotel in Bloomington, and though you weren't thrilled with the layout and some other things, it sounds like we accomplished our overall goal. If your travels bring you back to this area, and our layout fits your travel needs at that time, we'd love to host you again.
Sincerely,
Kirby Brown

Very Good Experience!

The room was quiet, beautiful and comfortable. The cold beverages at check-in were wonderful. The breakfast was awesome, loads of fresh strawberries and blueberries. The most memorable was Josh at the hotel bar, who picked up on our desire for a Wisconsin Old-Fashioned, i.e. with brandy. Great guy!

This was an excellent place to stay. It's close to the IU campus as well as downtown Bloomington. The staff were very helpful. The breakfasts were very good and included both hot and cold options. The parking was easily accessible. (You need to have your parking form verified to get in and out without paying extra.) The room was clean and well maintained.
The only caveat that I have is that if you're planning to stay there for the IU graduation ceremony, you need to get on a list four years in advance.
