Kindness in our moment of raw pain.

• My husband and I had to drive from New Jersey to Alabama. Our son had passed. Technically, he was our son-in-law. But to our hearts he was our son. It had just happened and we were driving down to be with our daughter. However the loss was still very raw. Our hearts were broken. On this trip, Afton was at the front desk. They were so very compassionate. Truly. Kind words that felt so warm. They wrote us a sympathy card. It didn't feel like canned words they are told to say. It seemed very heartfelt. I couldn't help but ask if a hug was ok. Our daughter kept that card with the things for her husband.
• About a week later, headed back to New Jersey, we still thought of the kindness at this location. So we just called ahead to make our reservation for that night. Gabe was working the front desk. There was a card of sympathy and thinking of you waitingfor us in our room. Again we felt so, I don't know, maybe seen is the correct word. When you have a close loved one pass, it feels so weird for the world to just continue on. So it feels comforting to have our pain acknowledged. I feel like I'm saying that so wrong. Anyhow, then sitting at the Cafe waiting for our dinner, a memory hit me and I started crying again. My husband got me some drink napkins to wipe my eyes. Gabe came scooting over So Fast with a box of tissues. Saying those would be softer. Again, seen. His card is in with item in our memorial for our son.
• Anyhow, in the morning we had Afton at the front desk again. I couldn't help but ask for a hug, again. We had time to talk a little and it was like talking with an old friend. Almost catching up. We both shared heart felt.moments. when i saw Afton.at.the front desk, I think both my husband and I fully smiled. Those so kind interactions, even though few, felt like so much beyond customer service. You can't train that. It's just good people. Thank you deeply, seriously, for having good people.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
First and foremost, please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your son. While you mention that he was your son-in-law, it is abundantly clear from your words that he was your son in every way that truly matters. I cannot begin to imagine the weight of the journey you and your husband were carrying as you traveled to be with your daughter during such a heartbreaking time.
Reading your review was incredibly moving. As hospitality professionals, we strive to provide comfort and care to our guests, but what you described goes far beyond a hotel stay. It speaks to the genuine compassion and humanity that Afton and Gabe showed during one of the most difficult moments of your lives.
I have shared your words with both of them, and I know they will be deeply touched to learn that the cards they wrote have become part of your son's memorial. What an incredible honor that is. The fact that a simple gesture, a kind word, a card, or even a box of tissues could provide a measure of comfort during such profound grief is something none of us will ever take lightly.
You wrote that they made you feel "seen," and I think you expressed it perfectly. In times of loss, when the world seems to continue moving while our own has been turned upside down, being seen and acknowledged can mean everything. I am grateful that Afton and Gabe were able to provide that for you and your husband.
Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your journey during such a painful chapter. Your review is a beautiful reminder that hospitality is ultimately about people caring for people. I could not be prouder of Afton and Gabe, and I am grateful that their kindness brought you even a small measure of comfort.
Our thoughts remain with you, your husband, your daughter, and all who loved your son.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Lauren Collins

Horrid customer service and care

Sat at the desk while they did a “shift change” for 40 min with a already booked Reservation with over 10 people waiting while their systems where “down” it was late at night but still I don’t believe it should take over 30 min to get a room that is already paid for when it’s past 11:30 at night

The room overall was clean , the bathroom could use some maintenance from where they removed some things from the shower and around areas around glass partition at back of bath/shower could use a deeper cleaning ( mold buildup) . It wasn’t nasty just makes it look dirty. There were plenty of towels and stuff in the bathroom. Bed linens were nice and clean ( I’ve had bad experiences at other places, where they looked like they weren’t clean and had hair all over them) not here , they were crisp clean. Front deck ladies were very nice and helpful. Parking was easy and I was able to find spaces close to the front.

Put a $100 hold on my debit and still haven’t released it after 3 business days of checking out.
