Last minute
Came a day before our beach house was ready so needed somewhere to stay. Our room was perfect! Small space, but it was a one night stay. Peaceful, with friendly people. Pet friendly, with a side yard for potty breaks! Even have poop bags to keep it clean! Will stay again!

Too small
The room was very tiny. The tiniest shower I have ever seen. Bathroom was very small all together. It was clean. It had no pool & no shower outside to at least get the sand off your feet. It had a really weird lock on the door & if you didn't put in the correct code after the third try you were locked out of your room altogether. I would definitely not stay here again.

It was just ok.
Overall, Room 12 was clean and neat. We just needed 1 night to sleep so this was ok. I would not suggest Room 12 because it is right beside the road and is noisy and bright. The bathroom is a bit tight and the room is small. The room smelled a bit musty, but air freshener helped. It was strange that the office called us to find out what time we would be there because they had a family emergency. When we called back, they said they just wanted to know when we would be there. It was only 5:45 pm when they called so we were not really late. The air conditioner needs to be replaced with a better fitting one and one that does not need a rock to hold the directional grates in place. The bathroom fan definitely needs cleaning, the bed was a bit squishy, and the pillowcases were not the correct size. We did not need to be close to the ocean so I think next time we will spend a little more and stay at a chain hotel.

We could deal with everything but the cockroaches that’s just plain gross!!!
The room was very small but we could live with that, the bed was comfortable. Loved the shower head. All was fairly good could even deal with the owner being kinda rude. But the COCKROACHES that was horrible!!!!! Now we are on our way back home 12 hours away and will have to go through all of our stuff and shake everything out afraid of bringing them home. No housekeeping we had to go buy a broom and toilet paper. They did exchange dirty towels for clean if we left them outside of our door. That could really be done differently. NO excuse for the cockroaches though that was really gross!! We came to OBX and got married at Kitty Hawk Pier we had a beautiful vacation except for the cockroaches. Definitely will be back to the outer banks but will not be staying at Driftin Sands motel.

No Contact, no Service!
We booked two nights at the motel from 21.07. to 23.07. via Booking. However, due to a problem with our rental car, we were unable to arrive on July 21, so we tried to contact the motel several times on July 19. We also contacted Booking's customer service on 20.07. to get in touch with the motel from their side as well. The reason for this was that we wanted to find out whether it would be possible to postpone our stay for two days. However, we could not reach the motel on the motel's own telephone number (telephone number given on the motel homepage and on Google; announcement on extension: Line not available). Several e-mail inquiries remained unanswered. It should be noted that the website explicitly asks guests to contact the hotel by telephone in the event of a late check-in. In short, money is gone and the motel is, in my opinion, absolutely not to be recommended with such a "service". We have not received any e-mail feedback to date.
