A Delightful Experience

Amongst the many incredibly cool retro motels we enjoyed during our end-to-end Route 66 adventure, we spent a delightfully pleasant night in a cabin in the KOA Campground in Kingman, Arizona. Far from “roughing it,” the little log structure was impeccably clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The welcoming staff and recreational opportunities were a bonus.

Horrible Experience

This campground was torturous. The gravel was as sharp as diamonds. I cut my fingers all up and my puppy hurt his paws. Of the 10 or so employees I interacted with, most were nice. Two were hideous. A lady watched me on her cameras and yelled at me for a rule she had never told me. She told me I couldn't leave my dogs alone for 5 minutes while I went and got a drink but she had never told me before but yelled at me about it. The other rude individual was a guy that said he was the manager even though this other lady told me she was the manager. Since I cut my hands all up and could barely move my stuff around she told me I could have a few extra hours to check out. The very rude man told me I better get out of there by 12:00 or he's charging me for another day. I told him I was going to sue him and he said you can't you told us you could we could do anything to you because you signed some paper at the beginning. I wanted to have a good time but I ended up crying a lot.
I went to the Urgent Care and was prescribed medications. I'm getting a law firm.

This was our first stay in a KOA Kamping Kabin, but likely won’t be our last. The little log cabin was spotless and well-equipped. The AC managed to keep up with the intense heat. Although not equipped with a washroom (which we knew going in) the nearby restrooms were spotlessly maintained. The pool area was fantastic and the grounds are meticulously maintained. They have a wide variety of accommodation options, suitable for any number of visitors.

Description did not disclose that a bathroom was not included, Had to upgrade and pay more for this amenity. Cabin inside and outside had a lot of dust. Parking lot and road were dirt so felt this was the reason, but if expecting a guest they could wipe it down. Window could have used a darkening shade. I had to use a hair clip and left it behind. Porch swing was nice. Walked the grounds, It was not busy. Very nice grounds and pretty quiet. Met our needs as we were passing thru.

Hotels in Kingman were unexpectedly expensive so I took a chance and booked one of the cabins/rooms at the KOA. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised! Our room was very clean, the staff was friendly and everyone staying there was quiet and respectful. We were right above the pool but quiet hours started at 8pm. We were moving my college daughter home from out-of-state and we felt very safe leaving all of her belongings in the car overnight. It really is a cool place to stay and rest in the middle of a long roadtrip.
