San Ysidro Ranch - Put it on your bucket list!

It would be difficult to imagine a more exquisite, peaceful, unpretentious, yet luxurious getaway than the San Ysidro Ranch. Nestled on the upslope of lush Montecito, the experience begins with the lavender-lined entrance drive and cobblestone pavement. The various one- and two-bedroom cottages are sprinkled inconspicuously throughout the property, Your own nameplate alongside the front door greets you as you enter your cottage. Once inside, you find a delightful mix of old and new--carefully selected antique furniture, flatscreen TVs, lavish baths (with indoor and outdoor showers) and your own very private outdoor jetted pool. The shelves in the living room are stocked with interesting books, and there is a wonderful sense of calm and serenity. Dining is at the Stonehouse is a delightful experience. My wife and I loved sitting under the arched terrace and looking beyond lush vegetation to the Pacific Ocean below. The food and service were superb. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning at some time in the future.

Restful getaway with the best food, surroundings and service

We came on the recommendation of a friend and loved our 3 nights at SYR. It was nothing short of spectacular; every view picture perfect. Our Jasmine cottage was perfectly appointed with delicate fabric wallpaper, amazing linens, windows that open, a beautiful bathroom, outdoor shower and our private patio with hot tub. The perfect place for peaceful morning coffee and an afternoon glass of wine. The meals included with your stay include breakfast, lunch and dinner: the way it’s done is very generous and is more than enough food. Speaking of food; the menus and quality are first class. We loved dining in all areas of the Storehouse restaurant. The service in the restaurants was professional and very friendly; the servers remembered us from day to day and always went out of their way to speak to us when we walked in. The wine cellar is a sight to behold and worth a tour if you are so inclined. Couldn’t find a flaw in this beautiful experience!

this place cannot be topped...

this was our third trip to san ysidro...this place is magical...the peace is beyond describable...your needs are anticipated before you knew you needed anything...the orange cottage is our family favorite...everything about the cottage is perfect, the living area, the beds, the bathrooms, the outside spa, the large patios front and back...the grounds are immaculate with rose gardens, veggie gardens and citrus arbors abound...there is a wonderful spa, a mini golf course, a swimming pool, a gym, a wine cave, a 5 star restaurant with accompanying room service, afternoon tea and wine tasting...morning and evening turn down service to replenish mini bar, snacks and coffee...room service is on the patio with white table cloth and presentation with lots of smiles...everyone is so nice and treats you as though you are special...5 stars are not enough...we already have our next trip reservations in...it is expensive, yes...but sometimes you get what you pay for, and this place is a must...our first trip was 4 days and we decided we needed more...so the next two trips were for a long 2 weekend week, as is the next...highly recommend this experience...you won't be disappointed

Style over substance

We visited for dinner after seeing many rave reviews on social media. We were very impressed by the beautiful setting and the grandeur of the grounds.
We were seated inside the restaurant which certainly doesn’t share the same ambience as the outside area. We asked if we could sit there instead as there were lots of spaces for two free, but were told no. This was disappointing as the same tables still remained available after we had finished our meal so it evidently would have been possible should they have allowed it.
The waiter was very polite and friendly in his manner and keen to impress however he was clearly overstretched covering multiple covers outside as well as inside. The service was sadly incredibly slow - multiple times we had to get up from our table to go and find someone to either ask for a new drink or for the check. On the occasions that we did get time with our waiter he was out of breath and sweating due to rushing around so much and it’s not what you would expect from such a luxurious venue.
The food was distinctly average - we had very high expectations and were unfortunately let down. We had much better food across other destinations within California where we paid a fraction of the price.
It felt like the menu was based around lots of gimmicks (flames and smoke), but what really mattered in terms of the taste of the food and service sadly lacked.

Very special tea.

“ Galentines “ tea with a good friend. It was delicious & the service by Santiago was unobtrusive but attentive. It was lovely but it was a gorgeous sunny warm day and the only option was the dark speakeasy. Would have been so much nicer on the terrace , and would only have tea there again if that were an option.
