A wonderful hotel. Great location. Friendly staff. But Please!!! Don’t use the world’s flimsiest cheapest toilet paper in the rooms. A hotel this ice deserves better.

Worst Hotel Stay

I checked into Room 701 on 8/20, and unfortunately, the problems started almost immediately. When I arrived, the A/C was not working. I called the front desk, and they sent Steve up. He was very nice and tried to help, but he was a valet and understandably could not diagnose or fix the A/C since he was not maintenance. I also noticed that the A/C unit was damaged and there was a chunk of carpet missing near the hallway.
After waiting about an hour and realizing the A/C still wasn't working, I called the front desk again. I explained that I had just arrived after an exhausting 8-hour flight and was in town for a convention the next morning. I did not want to move rooms; I simply asked if someone could repair the A/C the following day. The front desk representative insisted that I move because another room was available, so I agreed and was moved from 701 to 708.
Unfortunately, Room 708 came with an entirely different set of problems. The A/C was working, but the room reeked of smoke. The condition of the room was also unacceptable. Wallpaper was peeling off the wall behind the bed, the bed skirting was stained with brown marks and improperly placed, the carpet near the A/C was coming up, and the bathroom wallpaper was in terrible condition and looked like it could potentially have mold or water damage.
At this point, I was honestly worried about coming across as a complainer, so I asked the front desk to come upstairs and inspect the room with me. I wanted them to see the condition firsthand. My colleague, who was staying in 703, also came up to look at the room. Ironically, she was having her own issues at her hotel room, including a dirty desk with peanut butter on it and a broken A/C.
The front desk supervisor came up, and I showed her everything. She apologized, and I explained that I understood these issues weren't personally her fault. However, I had now been given two problematic rooms, had been forced to move, and had spent a significant amount of time trying to get settled after a long flight. I had even missed dinner with my other colleagues because of the room situation.
I asked for a solution and even offered to go back to Room 701 and wait until the next day for maintenance to repair the A/C. I was told that maintenance would not be able to fix it because they were experiencing issues throughout the property. I then said I would simply stay in 701 for the night, check out the next day, and stay with my other colleague at the Westin. That was also refused, and I was told I would be moved again.
I was ultimately moved to Room 812.
Room 812 was better, but still far from what I would expect from a hotel charging over $219 per night. The A/C worked, but the outlets near the TV were coming out of the wall, the wallpaper in front of the Mini Fridge unit was bubbling, the wallpaper around the bathroom towel rack was peeling, and the bathtub was in poor condition(brown stained).
The cleanliness was also concerning. There was a built-in bottle opener section next to the mini-fridge that was extremely dirty, with brown residue or stains visibly dripped all over it. This made me question whether the room had been properly inspected and cleaned before I was placed in it. After already experiencing issues in two other rooms, seeing these conditions in the third room was incredibly frustrating.
By this point, I was exhausted and frustrated. I had an 8:30 a.m. convention the next morning and just wanted to sleep. I ultimately decided to stay in Room 812 rather than burden my colleague by staying with her at the Westin. I kept the Do Not Disturb sign on my door for the rest of my five-night stay.
The most disappointing part of the entire experience was that no one from management ever followed up with me. Not once. After being moved through three different rooms and dealing with multiple maintenance, cleanliness, and room-condition issues, I never received a follow-up call or apology from management.
I understand that things can go wrong at a hotel. What I don't understand is how multiple rooms could be in this condition and why there was no meaningful follow-up after such a frustrating experience.
For over $219 a night, I expected much better. Unfortunately, this stay was exhausting, inconvenient, and disappointing from the moment I arrived.

The lobby was extremely hot…AC was not working properly. We observed several people at the front desk complaining that their rooms were hot. Luckily, our room was comfortable. The hallways were musty and the floors creaked…carpet over old floors. It was fine for one night and we liked the convenience of walking to PNC Park.

We booked a room with a king bed, when we were checking in they had us in a room with two queens. I showed the person at the front desk my reservation and she did change us to a room with a king bed. The room was very small and in need of updating. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and probably one of the worst I've ever slept on. The breakfast at the bistro in the hotel lobby was terrible. You're better off walking there blocks down and getting something at the 7-11.

Our check-in time was supposed to be 3pm. It was after 5pm till our room was ready for us to check-in. The manager comped us points on my account which I did appreciate. The floor in our room did not appear to have been swept. There was a young lady at the front desk that was not at all pleasant. When we approached her requesting additional towels she appeared annoyed and told us they would be brought up if any became available. Overall, disappointing experience.
