The young man got me through check-in quickly, he was very polite! We got our rooms 1 hour early. The rooms were clean made up nicely.
Even though I didn't use house keeping they were friendly & polite. The one thing that was disturbing is the flushing of toilets & the water running loudly. We have no other complaints.

We were there for Monterey car week so the prices are too high for the quality of the hotel. The room was generally acceptable with the a few plumbing issues. The shower controls did not work very well nor was the water very hot. The really low point was when the toilet clogged, the manager gave me a plunger and said he would not fix the toilet. This is really an unacceptable experience at the rate of $400 plus a night, I will not return to this property.

Staff is very accommodating and reacted quickly if there was an issue with plumbing. It is the cutest two-star hotel that we've stayed at.

The Sand Castle Inn was very clean, looks to have been recently refurbished, the beach was a 10 minute walk, super close to Monterey and Carmel. This is the place to stay if you want to get to Point Lobos State Nature Reserve before they close the gate. Bring a sleep mask if you are sensitive to outdoor lighting. We will definitely stay here again!

This is a basic place to stay with no amenities and no place that you would want to walk to within walking distance. If you just want a place to sleep, and you don’t mind traffic noise, this place is inexpensive and fits the bill. The people were nice, and helpful, but the property is not awesome.
