My stay was pleasant. The only thing I would complain about is not enough carts to relocate luggage to rooms.

Misleading Room Title and Pictures
Booked the 1 King Bed Deluxe Room W/ Sofabed Nonsmoking. This title is copied from the hotel's website. MISLEADING TITLE! The room has NO sofabed. In Sept 2024, the room had a chaise lounge (pictured still in April 2026), but our room 212 in March 2026 had NO chaise lounge. So the pictures on the hotel website are also MISLEADING. Instead there was an exercise bike in the room. Austin, the genial desk clerk, personally removed the bike. Then we had to beg Austin for at least another chair. He scrounged one from the next door room, so now our room had just two desk chairs (no lounge, no sofabed, no comfy chair at all--for the most expensive room in the hotel). There was NO desk lamp, meaning one whole wall of desk, tv, and counterspace had no lighting for it. The bathroom sink was cross-plumbed. The shower had sliding doors, but only ONE side opened, the side FURTHEST from the faucet. This meant a cold blast of water on guest in order to turn on and adjust water temp. UNSAFE. There was just one wall hook for clothing in the bathroom, and it was 9 ft high on the wall, between shower and toilet. Not even on the door. Since the handwash pump soap was 3 ft 9 inches away from the cross-plumbed sink, I bought a bar of soap for our use, to avoid dripping water and/or soap on our belongings on that side of the sink's counter. A washcloth became a soap dish. Cleanliness was okay. Drab battleship gray doors and trim were depressing. Go elsewhere. Guess we will despite our Shaw AFB connection.

Avoid this place!
Regarding my stay at Hampton Inn Sumter it was extremely disappointing but unsafe, unsanitary, and in violation of basic guest standards.
My room on the third floor was directly adjacent to ongoing construction where workers applied wallpaper with strong adhesive. Fumes from the adhesive caused severe headaches and made the room uninhabitable. Even after being assured work had ended, the fumes returned the next day.
There was drywall dust which covered floors and hallways, and construction equipment obstructed guest pathways.
Workers were observed consuming alcohol on the job. Attached photos show an empty beer bottle among supplies and debris in areas accessible to guests.
The hotel lost running water due to a busted pipe, leaving guests without showers, toilets, or access to basic hygiene.
Hotel management informed guests that plumbers would not arrive until the following morning, and no alternative accommodations or refunds were offered.
Despite being relocated to another floor after my initial complaint, the relocation did not resolve the overall issues.
Also they have random homeless people who walk in and help themselves to breakfast. I had one homeless lady ask me to pour her orange juice before being rushed out by the front desk associate.
This stay exposed me to chemical hazards, unsafe working conditions, and unsanitary facilities, which are unacceptable for paying guests. Guests should never face these conditions, and this represents a serious lapse in health, safety, and consumer respect/care.
Avoid this dump at all costs.

Our room was clean, quiet, and well furnished. Beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly and available all the time. Breakfast was excellent, with eggs, ham, sweets, breads, waffles, grits, cereal and all the extras.

No trash can in bedroom. Not enough light in the bedroom. It is customary to have a lamp in the corner by the sitting chair. It is customary to have a lamp on the desk. There was a light on the desk but it doesn’t put out much light. Making up the bedroom every other day is not acceptable.
I will not be staying at that hotel in the future.
