Great hotel in very good location
We stayed at this hotel a number of times on our recent trip to Vietnam. If I had written this review immediately after our first night, the rating would have been different. We were tired after 24 hours of travelling, the room safe did not work, the air conditioning was weak and there was a small amount of (clean) water leaking on to the bathroom floor. There was also quite a bit of noise at night from the local bars. We even started to look for another hotel for the rest of our stay. As we were transferring to Sapa early the next day, we decided to go back to the Art Hotel on returning to Hanoi and then make a decision whether or not to change.
Not cancelling the other bookings was the best decision. The Art Hotel is a little gem. Located in a narrow street in the Old Quarter. Close to bars and restaurants. The rooms are fairly large with a clean, comfortable bed, additional seating, small fridge, wardrobe, drawers, tv and a desk. We even had a decent balcony with a table and 2 chairs. The air conditioning worked well (user error on first night ). There is a fair bit of noise from the outside at night, but that is the price to be paid in that location. We did not get a working room safe, but the hotel felt secure enough and there was a good lock on the room door. Some of fixtures and fittings needed a bit of attention e.g. reading lamps did not work. We always take head-torches as many hotels fail to provide decent bedside lamps.
We were given the top floor apartment for one night. To be honest it was wasted on just the 2 of us, but it would be great to a family. Huge tv with playstation, cooking facilities and a full size fridge freezer.
The staff were kind and helpful. They replied quickly to any queries we had before our stay, stored our luggage free of charge, showed us how to use the air conditioning, booked transfers to the airport, provided laundry service and even messaged us to check if we wanted to order breakfast.
If we want to stay in the Old Quarter again, the Art Hotel will definitely be our first choice. It has a few faults but overall it is an excellent place to stay and very good value for money.

DONT BOOK - communication nightmare, left stranded at night. Much better hotels in old quater.
DO NOT BOOK!!!
first experience was an airport pickup priced at 390,000dong - average cost 250,000-300,000. Then I got a message that said please pay at reception, we are having problem with card payments. Then I got Agoda message saying payment due or booking will be cancelled. I contacted property to advise that I was still happy to pay cash as per their request (in hindsight I think they just referred to airport pickup but all a bit confusing) and not to consider the booking cancelled. To which they agreed and responded, confirming my booking was still valid. Upon arrival to Vietnam I messaged in transit to advise plane was late re airport pickup and was told they didnt know who I was nor did I have a booking. I sent screenshots only to be told by person on whats app number that it was his day off and no other number was answered. Stranded on Hanoi at 11pm at night - not a great start!

One of the Worst
One of the worst Hotels we have stayed at . Nothing like the Photos . Not Clean , The Bed sheets , we found stains and Hairs in the Bed . The Balcony was Terrible with a Bowl of Utensils left in the Sink . The BBQ had seen better Days . The outside Table & Bench seats was the sort of thing you would find at an Outback Campsite , very old & Weathered . Floors needed a Good clean . We were expecting an onsite Restaurant for Breakfast however we were informed Breakfast would be a Ban Mie delivered to our Room . We told them not to Bother. The whole room was in need of a good Deep Clean and a Renovation . We had Booked and Paid for 4 nights , we stayed one night and that decided us that we could not stay longer . The street noise was so loud we could not sleep a wink . It was Party Central and didn't let up all night . We handed in the Key and told them we could stay no longer due to the Noise and the Cleanliness issues . We were gone by 8 am .

My son and I stayed at the Art Hotel Hanoi for three nights. Hotel room spacious beds comfortable, refrigerator, kettle , Wi-Fi and all toiletries supplied. Good breakfast

Great hotel amazing attention!!
Nothing to complain!! Great attention comfortable beds, good shower, great amenities, best location, safe area, personal staff above the kindest and predisposition amazing. Yummy breakfast. Really good sleep because it's silent even being at very domwntown.
