A hidden gem in Ndola

The owner runs a very well appointed hotel. Free WiFi and laundry service. One great reason is that the food at her hotel is the best. I ate at a five star near there and the food was not even close. Made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Might take that little longer but when you have the food you won't be disappointed. Full breakfast included in the price, a great start to the day.
Very clean rooms and friendly staff.
For the price, location, security, food abs cleanliness this is the reason for the high scoring of this establishment.
Happy travels.

Bad Customer Service

I checked in at about 8:45 p.m. and was allocated a so called Executive room. I went out to get some food immediately after checking in. I got back at about 10 p.m. and prepared myself to sleep. There were mosquitoes in the room, no mosquito net, so I switched on the air conditioning as the lodge did not provide any mosquito repellant or insecticide. I however couldn't sleep and about 1 a.m. when I realised the reason I couldn't sleep which was a hard mattress. The mattress felt like I was lying down on a rock. I went to the reception and did not get any assistance at all. I then requested for a refund from the owner who indicated that it can only be done in the morning at 8:30. I then left to find descent accommodation elsewhere which I did at the marvelous "The Urban Hotel".
In the morning I went back to the Lodge to get my refund and the owner of the Lodge refused to refund me claiming I used the room and ignored the fact that the mattress which is the main thing I went for so I could have a good night rest was pathetic. She even dared me to take her to court as she was not going to refund me at all. She went on ranting and raving with so much unreasonableness that I had to start coaching her on customer service. In the end I did not get my refund and was such a waste of time engaging her.
This is a bad place to stay and I would not recommend for anyone to stay at this Lodge. Further, the lodge doesn't provide courtesy water in the rooms. The owner of this Lodge is arrogant and does not understand how to give excellent customer experience.

Greenish Establishment Free Fast Wifi & Laundry but Untrained Staff

Aabiya is located in Ndola’s Broadway area close to town at the corner of Kabelenga and Tusha Street. Its a pleasent sight to see a solar panel covered roof as you arrive.
However, the congested layout of the establishment is immediately evident. The welcome was lukewarm and there was no one to help with the bags. The upstairs rooms are accessed via a very narrow spiral set of steps. This 2 star lodge is not handicap-friendly!
The rooms are spacious with the requisite amenities such as double bed, AC, bar fridge and TV. The window view was unpleasant corrugated iron sheets with chaotic cables in white trunking.
The bathroom was very spacious with a nice shower. I was on the second floor and the water pressure was excellent. However, there is a notice in the bathroom which states a 3-5min hot water delay. In reality it was within 3min (long pipe effect/solar water and/or gas geysers). There is was also a laundry busket where you can dump your laundry and in the evening the basket will come back with clean ironed clothes.
The establishment offers free broadband wifi which has property-wide coverage. Its very fast around 10Mbps. A bottle of mineral water is replenished daily.
The bed was terrible on the first night and on protest the owner/manager assured it would be rectified. The mattress was only replaced after 2 days but with an acceptable replacement. The bed-side lamps had dimming switches but non-dimmable bulbs. The tea making facilities had a kettle and cup but nothing else. I also wondered why the bar fridge was on top of instead of inside the fridge cabinet.
I found the staff to be clueless about what they do. The owner may wish to provide training. This extended to the breakfast which was basic but cold. They serve stricky and not back bacon. If you go after 730am for breakfast food would run-out. The glasses were not properly cleaned and the margarine in butter tubs was not refrigerated but kept on the tables.

Had a nice stay with family during 2 day stay in Ndola.

The rooms are well kept very clean, with aircorn and nice hot water bath with fantanstic fitting in the shower rooms. However had problems with the wifi in the rooms. Not very strong signal. Staff very good and least with a functional gym.
